Malicious Monday: Victoria Grayson

"Poor girl. She chose the wrong enemy."
                                              - Victoria Grayson

Bow down to the Queen of the Hamptons, you swine! You will kiss the Manolo Blahnik-clad feet of this Hamptons matriarch, and if you don't, you will get an icy stare that will penetrate your very soul! That's right, it's another Malicious Monday! Today is the day we talk about the wicked bitch of the Hamptons, Victoria Grayson from ABC's hit prime-time soap Revenge, played masterfully by the fabulous Madeleine Stowe.

That tea cup is worth more than your life!
Revenge follows our heroine, Amanda Clark incognito as Emily Thorne (Emily VanCamp) as she leads a secret campaign to destroy the wealthy and powerful Grayson family after they viciously frame her father for a terrorist act when she was only a child. She goes through years of suffering and abuse at the hand of the foster care system, all the while hating her father. It isn't until she turns 18 and inherits her father's estate that she learns of the treachery her father suffered at the hands of the Grayson's, including his own lover, Victoria.

"You can spend your life being controlled by powerful men, or you can learn how to control them".

Throughout the entire series Victoria is seen as the main antagonist of the series. She had an affair with David Clark, only to turn around and help her husband, Conrad, frame him. David is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Victoria does feel guilty over this, but is never willing to compromise her wealth or position of power in the Grayson empire. She also has a psychiatrist brainwash Amanda (AKA Emily) into believing her father was evil and then has her thrown into an institution.

She wakes up like this.
Victoria is beautiful, powerful and extremely dangerous. From the moment Emily comes into her life, she knows something isn't right. She spends almost the entire series plotting and manipulating everyone around her, having them do what she wills. Eventually, Victoria has some sort of animosity with every character on the show, and she doesn't give two shits. She will stop at nothing to destroy someone when she sets her mind to it.

"I see a pretty girl with cheap shoes and limited social graces."
Just because Victoria is a class-act, doesn't mean she's afraid to get her hands dirty. She's killed multiple people, some on her own, or has had other people do it for her. Most of the time her evilness is attributed to protecting her children and her state of power. When she's taken down, whether it be by Conrad, Emily or whoever, Victoria doesn't stay down for long. She finds a way to the top again.

When the show finally explains Victoria's past, it's easy to see why she's such a bitch. Her mother, Marion, was a wannabe socialite and desired wealth and power over all else. Through watching her mother's schemes and exploits, Victoria quickly learned how to manipulate people and even destroy their lives. Unfortunately, it was Marion who destroyed Victoria's life.

"Trust is the one thing I can not afford."
When Victoria was 15, Marion was seeing a wealthy man named Tom. She had hopes of marrying him until Tom revealed that he had no intention of raising another man's child. In a fit of rage, Marion killed Tom. She convinced Victoria to take the blame, hoping that the judge would be more lenient on a minor. Victoria had to go to mental institution for 6 months.

When Victoria got out, Marion had already moved in with another wealthy man. This man turned out to be a pedophile and advanced on Victoria. Marion caught them together and kicked her to the curb without a penny. Marion soon married the man and Victoria was left out on the street. From then on, Victoria had an extremely rough life, including getting pregnant by someone who viciously raped her. Victoria left the child at a church in the care of nuns and she went off to Paris for a scholarship.

She then began seeing a man named Pascal. They fell in-love, but Victoria's student visa expired and she had to return to America. Pascal promised his love for her was strong and he would wait as long as it took. A few weeks later she was able to return to Paris, but found Pascal in the arms of another woman. Victoria was heartbroken. She left Pascal and Paris behind her.

Victoria then fell in love with a penniless artist named Dominick. She became a scam artist as she had Dominick paint copies of famous works of art and then sold them to wealthy people as the real thing. It was during this time that Conrad Grayson came into her life. She saw the wealthy Conrad as a way out of poverty. She screwed over Dominick and Conrad's wife, making him divorce her, so she could be the new Mrs. Grayson.

After all that, can we see how she became a villain? Her life has been unstable. The only things she ever wanted was wealth and stability. Anyone who threatens that... God help them. She's one of the most interesting characters on television because she is loving and self-sacrificing, but at the same time, this bitch is cold as ice. She doesn't actively seek out people to destroy, no, that would be a waste of her time. She only fucks with people who fuck with her or her children.

The queen holds court in her throne room.
Though her charm and hospitality has given her the title of Queen of the Hamptons, Victoria is far from the facade she puts up in front of other people. She's cruel and calculating. She will stop at nothing to get what she wants or to keep her precious life she has built for herself protected, and we love watching her do it!

"I said I need 15 more souls to complete my elixir!"
My God, she's such a heinous bitch, but she's entertaining! She lives in her own delusional world where she thinks that she's better than everyone else, yet she was one of the low-lives she hates not too long ago. Her hypocrisy level is through the roof! She hates Conrad for being a devious piece of shit, yet she helped him be that way by framing a man she loved, a man who trusted her. She continued to lie and cheat with him to get where they're at. When she found out Conrad had been cheating on her, Victoria was furious, yet she's cheated on him multiple times! It's hilarious!

"All men are born hardwired to betray, it's just a question of when."
One of the main reasons to watch Revenge is definitely Madeleine Stowe as Victoria Grayson. From the get-go the creator of the series, Mike Kelley and Madeleine knew the secret origin of Victoria. Madeleine told Kelley that she would make her character do whatever he wanted her to do, as long as there was a reason for her doing it. Behind her cold exterior is a lot of pain and regret. She has a longing for the things that could have been, but at the same time, she wouldn't have had it any other way. She's a swirling mass of contradictions. You can hate on Vicky all you want, but at the end of the day, she'll call you trash and stab you in the eye with her stilettos. She gives 0 fucks.
